🇹🇭 Guided Bangkok vlog - Everything we saw, ate and loved! ☀️

Back in May, I went to Thailand for three weeks so I am presenting to you - A guided vlog and a blog post about the 5 days my best friend and I spent in Bangkok. I've divided everything into categories in the blog post that should be easy to navigate, and the video is in chronological order. I’ll give you all the details, about where we stayed, ate and what we saw in both. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask and I’ll answer to the best of my abilities!

Flying and the airport - SIM card and more!

I flew from Copenhagen to Bangkok BKK airport with Thai Airways and it cost me 5507 Danish Krones total round trip. (780,41 dollars and 737,67 euros) I booked 3 months in advance. I got both dinner and breakfast on the plane. The experience was great!

When I landed, I withdrew money after getting through customs and then I bought a SIM card so that I would have data for the whole trip. I paid 900 Baht (around 23 euros and 25 dollars) and there were no problems with it at all! It was amazing having access to maps at all times hehe.

TAXI's from the airport are not cheap but it works like a charm. I got a TAXI for 700 Baht (19 dollars and 18 euros) to my Hotel when I first arrived, which was nice after so many hours of travel.

Grab is the easiest way around when you aren't by a designated TAXI spot. So with Grab you just download the app and type in your information.

Many of the chauffeurs both in TAXI's and Grabs don’t speak English BUT if you have your destination in maps as well as in the Grab app that helps them. Especially with Grab because in the app it doesn’t always say the destination in Thai because you as the customer have typed it in English!

We did also use the trains and metros and it was a piece of cake to use and buy tickets. So whether you take TAXI or public transport is just a question of preference!

Hotel - Hyde Park Hotel Bangkok

Adresse: 285 Ratchaprarop 12 Alley, Makkasan, Phaya Thai, Bangkok 10400, Thailand

Link (not affiliated):

The hotel was called Hyde Park Hotel and we found it on Google Maps. We had been searching for different parts of the city and this was a part that both had an easily accessible station, a pool on the roof and in general we could also walk to a lot of the things we wanted to see. I would say a true 5-star experience, especially for the price!! We paid 5488 Baht (152 dollars and 144 euros) for 6 nights (my friend arrived a day before me)

There was not that much floor space in the room we had, but we truly didn’t care. The pillows were good and so was the bathroom, which are the two main things that have to work for me.

Cafes and smoothie bars

The neighbourhood cafe

Address:  9 Ratchaprarop Rd, Makkasan, Ratchathewi, Bangkok 10400, Thailand

Just on the other side of the small street of the hotel, there was a cosy cafe run by a sweet woman. It was a very nice alternative to taking a coffee along in the mornings instead of going to 7-Eleven!

I would recommend her iced coffee without sugar!

GREY RAY Café & More

Adresse: 86/7 Ratchaprarop Rd, Thanon Phaya Thai, Phaya Thai, Bangkok 10400, Thailand

This cafe was one of my favourites! the iced coffee was to a T how I liked it and their food was also very delicious! - We went back many times.

Cafe Mikka

Address: They have multiple locations.

They serve a really big iced coffee, so if you drink it while walking around like we did, it is perfect!

Juice bar

Adresse: Between, Siam Square Osoi 2 and 3

This smoothie was really good. like really really good, but I can’t for the life of me find it on maps/Instagram/Facebook, but I've added a picture of the storefront, and it is located between, Siam Square Osoi 2 and 3.

Please Eat 69

Adresse: 133, 31 Ratchaprarop 12 Alley, Makkasan, Ratchathewi, Bangkok 10400, Thailand - It has this address on Google, but it is on the other side of the street!

Please Eat 69 was the neighbour to our hotel, a small restaurant run by a family by their/in their house! The food was amazing and we came back a couple of times. My friend also bought some of their homemade chilli!

Mirch Masala Indian Food

Adresse: 447/15 Ratchaprarop Rd, Makkasan, Ratchathewi, Bangkok 10400, Thailand

One night we craved Indian food, my gosh was this food good!

Toby's at Sala Daeng

Adresse: 14/1 Soi Sathon 2, Silom, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500, Thailand

The food was good but for the price, I would only eat there if you are in the area and crave a more western meal. Their juices and cakes were good - We got banana bread and thus our passion began, to find the best banana bread in Thailand Hehe. I think we bought it at every cafe we could!

The restaurant at the bus stop

Adresse The other side of the street from the bus stop: Hua Lamphong (Rong Mueang side)

We ate at this restaurant on our walking trip from our hotel to the Grand Palace, which we had planned to take us through Chinatown as well. The food was good, and the drinks were just the right size for the warm weather hehe.

Thong Heng Lee

Adresse: 192 194 Maha Rat Rd, Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200, Thailand

The next day when we had walked around the Grand Place, we were so hungry that we just went to the first and best restaurant, we could find. We were scared that it might be a tourist trap but the food was amazing, as was their homemade lemonade and the people were so very nice!

Pratunam Night Market

Adresse: Ratchaprarop Road | Phayathai, Ratchathewi, Bangkok 10400, Thailand

Here I got my first Pad Thai and it was heavenly!

Adresse: Rama IX Rd, Huai Khwang, Bangkok 10310, Thailand

This night market is very nice! We tried a lot of different foods. We also bought the best banana bread of the whole trip here! And I of course forgot to take a picture or video of it! BUT the woman who had the stall had it at the far back in a tiny stand with other very delicious cakes and cookies!

Lumpini park

Adresse: Lumphini, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330, Thailand

Loved the greenery in Bangkok and Lumpini Park is one of the bigger parks we walked in. Perfect when you need a spot to sit and chill or to walk through to get from one point of the city to another and get some shade along the way!

The Jim Thompson Art Centre

Adresse: 10/1 Kasem San 2 Alley, Wang Mai, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330, Thailand

One of my favourite spots and viewpoints was the rooftop of The Jim Thompson Art Centre - Just a really cool place! There was also a cafe inside and other exciting exhibitions. It is free to enter the centre but the exhibitions cost money.

Bangkok Art and Culture Centre

Adresse: 939 Rama I Rd, Wang Mai, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330, Thailand

Nearby you have the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, which is also free to enter! It has some very beautiful exhibitions. There were also different fairs and cafes inside, so just a lot of exciting stuff! A nice place to get cooled down while looking at art in various forms.

Chinatown, Pratu Nokyung Alley & the Giant Swing

One of the days we decided to just start walking towards The Grand Palace and see where that would bring us! There was an area between the Bangkok Train Station and Chinatown I really liked. In reality, it was just the way of the streets and just the overall cosy vibe I loved!

We then through to Chinatown, which is always a fun experience and we got some good snacks and drinks.

After that, we decided to just walk along the river and saw Wat Arun from across the water, so beautiful! By the Grand Palace, there are the cutest streets (Pratu Nokyung Alley) with a lot of coffee shops and restaurants but they had all closed for the night, but truly seemed worth the visit while open!

We then saw the Grand Place from the outside and decided to turn our noses back towards the hotel and walked through another park (Saranrom Park) and saw the giant swing on the way!

The Grand Palace, Wat Arun, long boats

The day after we decided to see The Grand Palace in all its glory, it cost 500 baht (14 dollars and 13 euros) from the inside, and just wow, I’ve never seen anything like it. And it is just something you have to experience. I don’t have that many words other than wow and yes you should go!! Remember to wear appropriate clothes, which are both past the knee and over the shoulder.

After that, we went to Thewes Pier where we got on a long boat, to sail along the river. This was amazing! On the trip, it was also included to go to Khlong Bang Luang Floating Market, where you could walk along the canal and visit small shops! Such a cosy and nice place.

Our end destination was Wat Arun - Again speechless, loved the vibes and soaking everything up, the warmth and just the great architecture, it made me so happy!

Tip: Search at your local mall to see if there are any fun events you want to attend while you are there!

Adresse: 999/9 Rama I Rd, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330, Thailand

A big "normal" shopping mall!

Siam Square

Adresse: 388 Rama I Rd, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330, Thailand

Siam Square is a collection of streets with stores, that have very cool and unique items! I loved it and ended up doing all my shopping there. It was so good that I dream of going back haha.

Adresse: 299 Charoen Nakhon 5 Alley, Khlong Ton Sai, Khlong San, Bangkok 10600, Thailand

ICONSIAM is insane and amazing at the same time haha! It was also very overwhelming because it is so big and has so many levels and stores, so don't go there as the last thing on your long to-do list.

We thoroughly enjoyed the rooftop view and chilled there for a bit after walking around.

Wat Sam Phran - A fun day trip outside of Bangkok

Adresse: 92 8, Sam Phran, Sam Phran District, Nakhon Pathom 73110, Thailand

On our last full day, we went to Wat Sam Phran which is about 40 minutes outside of Bangkok by Grab/TAXI.

I loved it - It was so beautiful, quiet and just lovely. We only met two other sets of tourists while we were there, otherwise there wasn’t anyone. After admiring the temple we took a Grab to After the Rain Coffee & Gallery (45 8, Song Khanong, Sam Phran District, Nakhon Pathom 73210, Thailand)

This cafe is known for the fact that you can sail in a little boat around the cafe. The food was good and the vibes were miquelet!

Remember you can follow along on my Instagram and YouTube chanal

In my next vlog, I’ll talk about Chang Mai and Pai in northern Thailand!
